Distracted!

We have been waiting 8 months for Scott and Ashley to get the keys to their new house. So, what do we do when we finally get to see it?  We play with little Sarah, of course!!!  She is six months old and starting to figure out how to have fun!  Mastering sitting and crawling are high on her list of must-dos, and when she saw her auntie's carpet she insisted on giving it a go (with a little help from mommy and the aunties).

Sorry folks. Maybe next time I'll get some pictures of the house.

A Busy End to October Break

Before we knew it, Leah's two-week October break was almost over, so we needed to get busy having fun. SLEEPOVER!!! The first thing we needed to do was seperate her from Mom.

Then Leah showed us her new haircut.

Next we got busy making Halloween cookies.

Leah preferred the dough.

She made heart cookies for her and Garrett.  He is in the Kindergarten class next to her's. They play "chase" at recess.  She's in love with him.

She's going to marry him!

But, she still loves her Opa.

Don't you just love the bright colors she picked out!!!

Leah wasn't the only one having fun.  Sarah helped too. . .

in her own cute way .  .  .

when she wasn't distracted by her toes.

"I love my toes almost as much as I love sweet potatoes!"

The next morning the girls watched Tom play with his newest helicopter.

Then it was off to Tucson to visit GGPH for his 76th birthday!  Although he is still feeling the effects of Valley Fever he still up for going out to lunch. Later he showed Ashley how to skype so that they can video call each other.

Happy Birthday GGPH!

Labor Day Dinner Theater

This past weekend we were lucky enough to have dinner at Scott and Ashley's.  We knew we were in for a treat as far as the food goes, but we had no idea we would get entertainment along with it!  That's right.  Leah produced, directed, and starred in her very own one-girl show.  She sang AND danced. Not only that, but she gave everyone a VIP tour of their home and the backyard.  Enjoy the tour!

(Again, I apologize for any crappy photos.  This time I can blame the camera!)

M is for Mom . . . M is for Messy

Ashley volunteers  in Leah's classroom a couple of times a month, and yesterday the teacher asked if she would bind a book the class had made for the letter "M".  Ashley flipped through the pages and saw plenty of monsters and monkeys, but when she got to Leah's page she saw a stick figure with no hair and the word "MOM" written below it. That's just sweet.

Ashley and Leah about 5 years ago.

The other mommy, Kelly, is having a heck of a time introducing cereal into Baby Sarah's diet.  Sarah's just not having it.  As you can see from this photo, what goes in immediately comes out!!

"Cereal is icky. May I please have some of the Muddie Buddies over there instead?"

She's not sure she likes the pool either!

"I'd almost rather be eating cereal . . .well, almost."

Princess or Tomboy??

Last week, our wonderful Leah went to the museum with us with her beautiful long hair and wearing an even more beautiful little pink dress.  The very next day, she informed her mom that she wanted to cut her hair!  And so she cut her hair.

This weekend, Leah informed her mom that she wanted her ears pierced!  And so, off to the mall we all went for this momentous occasion.  While her mom and aunties told her it would not hurt, I warned her that it most definitely would.  When it was over, she looked tearfully up at me and said, "You were right, Oma!"

In any other situation I would have loved to be right, but not this one.  I told her that a new toy would make her ears feel so much better, and she smiled.  Her girly-girl mom and aunties led the way to the Disney Store and, although Leah was tempted, she (with her brand new 14 kt. sparkly emerald earings) ended up in some game store buying a Boeing 747 replica and a plastic dragon with 9-inch talons!

Throughout the day, Baby Sarah cooed, slept, ate, watched, a filed the whole day away for future reference.

Did I mention that earlier this morning she tried to wrestle her 80 pound German Shepherd, Mac.  She lost. Tomorrow she will have a black eye!

Baby Sarah  sleeping with Mommy's thumb in her mouth.  Sarah, your mommy used to suck on that very same thumb!

Ashley and Leah getting psyched for the piercing.  I'm pretty sure Ashley was more nervous.

"Look! My red eye matches my red ears!"

"Toys do make everything better!"

"I totally agree."

What an icky looking chair!  Wait till you see the transformation!!

75 Years of Life, Love, Family, Support, Fishing Tips, Survival Training, and Matching Shirts!

This past weekend we celebrated the 75th birthday of Barry's mom, better known as Mom-Mom.   You can tell by the title of this post that she's quite a woman.  Her devotion to her husband, her four children, her eight grandchildren, and her four great-grandchildren is inspiring, to say the least, so we threw a fantastic celebration for her in Tucson!
